Suresh Peters is a popular playback rapper/singer for films in India. The most recent song he has sung is Style from Sivaji: The Boss. Suresh Peters is the favourite singer of the Anniyan Director Shankar. He is a childhood friend of legendary musician A. R. Rahman and has assosciated with him in many songs. He has been the Music Director for more than 25 Malayalam films. On stage with his originals and hit numbers including Kadhalan: “Pettai Rap”, Gentleman (film): “Chikku Bukku Rail” and Josh (hindi): “Hum bhee hain josh main”.

My friend’s uncle Mr.Ravi Basrur & his students are also presenting their work at the event. Part of the sales will go for charity.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, samaja president M.R.V. Prasad said that the conference would be chaired by senior mridanga artiste A.V. Anand. The theme of the conference was “Laya Vaibhava”.

The conference will be inaugurated on October 4 by Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math. There will be seminars every morning at 10 a.m. from October 5 to 10. Vidwan Anand will preside over the seminars. He will be honoured with the Sangeetha Kalarathna award.

Young artistes will perform between 4.15 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. daily. There will be concerts by well-known artistes from 6 p.m.

Vidwan Anand will be awarded the prestigious Sangeetha Kalarathna while Artist of the Year awards will be given on October 11 to D V Nagaraja (vocal), P V Radha (vocal), M S Govindaswamy (violin), R K Padmanabha (veena), Sukanya Ramagopal (ghatam), Uma Nagabhushan, Y K Muddukrishna (sugama sangeeta) and Achyutha Rao Padakai (drama).

However, a focus on these visible forms of “labour” overlooks the many other ways in which children work. Rural working children, for example, are mainly employed in agricultural activities and make up the majority of the child work force in India. In India, many poor girls and boys work as domestic servants for rich and middle class families and most of the time, children especially girls, perform unpaid work for their families.
