41st Music Conference From October 4, 09
September 30th, 2009Bangalore Gayana Samaja is organising its 41st music conference from October 4 to 11. There will be seminars, concerts and other events to mark the occasion.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, samaja president M.R.V. Prasad said that the conference would be chaired by senior mridanga artiste A.V. Anand. The theme of the conference was “Laya Vaibhava”.
The conference will be inaugurated on October 4 by Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math. There will be seminars every morning at 10 a.m. from October 5 to 10. Vidwan Anand will preside over the seminars. He will be honoured with the Sangeetha Kalarathna award.
Young artistes will perform between 4.15 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. daily. There will be concerts by well-known artistes from 6 p.m.
Vidwan Anand will be awarded the prestigious Sangeetha Kalarathna while Artist of the Year awards will be given on October 11 to D V Nagaraja (vocal), P V Radha (vocal), M S Govindaswamy (violin), R K Padmanabha (veena), Sukanya Ramagopal (ghatam), Uma Nagabhushan, Y K Muddukrishna (sugama sangeeta) and Achyutha Rao Padakai (drama).
